Designed by Michael Thonet in 1859, this chair is famous for its elegant curves, lightweight structure, and affordability. It is an iconic piece of furniture that revolutionised chair design and mass production in the 19th century. The Thonet chair is made using a pioneering steam-bending technique, which allows beechwood to be curved into graceful, rounded shapes. This method gives the chair its characteristic sweeping lines and minimal joints.

Chairs are structurally original however, the original woven cane seat has been professionally replaced.
