Price: SOLD 140,000 ISK

Brita Svefors (b. 1926) was a Swedish textile artist associated with the midcentury Scandinavian weaving revival, which emphasised functional, handcrafted textiles with strong graphic appeal. Her works are known for their clarity of design, restrained colour palettes, and fine craftsmanship, making them highly regarded both as floor coverings and as wall hangings.

An Aniara Rölakan flat weave rug typically features:

  • Rölakan (a traditional Swedish flat weave technique), which creates a thin, durable, and reversible textile with a tight weave.
  • Characterised by geometric motifs—often diamonds, chevrons, stripes, or stylised florals—arranged in a balanced, repeating composition.
  • Typically woven in muted earth tones, soft blues, greens, and ochres, harmonising with modern Scandinavian interiors.
  • High-quality wool, sometimes woven on a linen warp.
  • Woven monogram of Brita Svefors in one corner. Recently professionally cleaned.
