Amiral lounge chair and ottoman

Designed by Eric Merthen, produced by Ire Möbler
Skillingaryd, Sweden. 1960’s
Price: POA

The design is inspired by the classic safari chair, utilising leather straps and slung upholstery to create a floating effect. Notably, there are no visible screws or joinery, highlighting Merthen’s commitment to craftsmanship. The leather cushions are suspended within the frame, supported by leather straps and metal buckles, creating a visually striking and comfortable seating experience. Produced by Ire Möbler, a company founded in 1939 with a commitment to high-quality, timeless design, these pieces continue to be celebrated for their innovative approach and enduring appeal.

Eric Merthen’s „Amiral“ lounge chair was crafted in the 1960s from Rosewood and leather, and exemplifies the pinnacle of Swedish Modern design. These vintage pieces exhibit signs of age, including natural wear and a beautiful patina on the leather.
